Purpose: n-ACTION Family Network will offer financial support or helping hand to a disadvantaged, minority student with economic challenges.
Award: In memory of Ernie L. White, a strong supporter of n-ACTION Family Network and an advocate of youth seeking higher education. The Ernie L. White Scholarship will be granted to a student of color who has shown exceptional academic accomplishment, documented community service, extra-curricular participation, and proven financial need. Applicant plans to pursue an Associate or Bachelor’s Degree.
Amount of the Scholarship: $500 - $1,000 (to be determined, on a case-by-case basis)
Academic Criteria:
Applicant has maintained a minimum 3.0 grade point average. A current, official high school transcript must be provided in support of reported GPA.
Applicant has been accepted and/or enrolled in an accredited undergraduate program in the current fall semester following high school graduation. A copy of the university’s Acceptance Letter or proof of registration must be included as proof of eligibility and required documentation.
Financial Criteria: Applicant must provideat least one of the following forms of documentation to demonstrate financial need:
Current W-2
AFDC (Aid to Families with Dependent Children)
State benefit notification letter
Financial Award Letter
Volunteer Service: Applicant must provide documentation of community/volunteer service.
Application Requirements:
An Application Cover Letter is addressed to the Scholarship Committee. This letter should include a brief description of the applicant’s biographical (background) information, achievements or community services, and current financial status. The letter should also include a statement describing their financial need, a copy of a current income tax return, and a statement of financial hardship of both parents.
Provide a 500-word, double-spaced essay on your thoughts on the Supreme Court’s recent decision to end Affirmative Action and how would this ruling affect you as a student of color?
Two (2) professional letters of recommendation or references from educators (teacher/counselor) or employer.
A copy of the Acceptance Letter or proof of enrollment (from perspective institution).
Provide the most current or recent official transcript.
A camera-ready, head-shot photo.
The completion of the Certification Agreement from n-ACTION Family Network must be signed and returned prior to releasing scholarship funds, if selected.
All completed applications, supporting documentation, and a camera-ready (head-shot) photo must be received no later than May 1st. Scholarship applications will be available January, 2024. Email applications will be accepted and must be sent to kay@n-actionfamilynetwork.org
