Outside of homeless families, California reported the largest number of unaccompanied homeless youth (which includes individuals under the age of 25 who do not live with a family member). Overall, 58% of the nation’s un-sheltered homeless youth reside in California, with the average age of a homeless person in America is nine years old.
To address the chronic homeless crisis, n-ACTION’s mission is to provide outreach services to address homelessness and offer supportive assistance to local elementary students identified as homelessness under the McKinney-Vento regulations, We believe in promoting reciprocity – “When You Give ... OUR MISSION
n-ACTION Family Network supports families in distress, specifically homeless mothers and school-aged children, while actively promoting education to at-risk and underserved students.
BENCHMARKS
During our first ten years, our primary mission and focus was the Women in Transition Support (W.I.T.S.) program, which was devoted to empowering and encouraging women who were victims of domestic violence, substance abuse, and custody and loss of parental rights to never give up! Through 32 weeks of life skills and support groups, we offered them hope by believing in themselves. We were saddened that it was necessary to disband our re-entry effort in 2016. However, we continue to look for other opportunities to support this population.
We are pleased that we were able to create two signature outreach and support programs designed to carry out the mission and vision of n-ACTION:

- Women of Wisdom (W.O.W.): As a result of the women participating in and completing the W.I.T.S. program, W.O.W. inspired others to desire a better life and make better choices. While there was much success with this program, it was discontinued 2016.
- “Strive To Achieve the Right Stuff” (S.T.A.R.S.) K-12 Youth Outreach Opportunities
- Book & Reading Program: Established a reading library and donated 100 books to head-start students.
- Adopt-A-School Scholarship: As part of the McKinney-Vento Assistance Act, n-ACTION adopted a school each year and provided gift cards and school uniforms.
- Secondary Scholarship: Since 2014, n-ACTION has provided a scholarship to a high school graduating senior.
