THE NEW FACE OF HOMELESSNESS
According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, there are an estimated 550,000 homeless individuals across our nation. Outside of homeless families, California reported the largest number of unaccompanied homeless youth (which includes individuals under the age of 25 who do not live with a family member). Overall, 58% of the nation’s unsheltered homeless youth reside in California and the average age of a homeless person in America is nine years old. To address the chronic homeless crisis, we cannot rely on housing alone. As a result, n-ACTION’s mission is to create support services to address homelessness and education.
